Off-the-shelf AI tools are designed for the average case. Custom AI solutions for business make sense when your case is not average: your documents follow a format no tool expects, your defects are visible only to a trained eye, or your demand depends on local factors a generic forecast ignores. In those situations a model trained or configured on your own data usually does better, but only if it is built with production in mind from the first week.

We start by defining the decision the system will support and the metric that decides success, for example forecast error per product, the share of documents extracted without correction, or defects caught per thousand units inspected. Then we assess the data: where it lives, how much there is, how clean it is and whether it is labelled. The proof of concept answers one question, whether the accuracy you need is reachable with the data you have, and it ends with a written result either way. If the answer is yes, the full build adds what a prototype lacks: data pipelines, an interface or API for your staff, monitoring for accuracy drift, retraining steps and documentation.

For example, an auto-components manufacturer could place a camera at the end of a machining line to flag surface defects, with uncertain images sent to a quality inspector whose decisions are saved as new training labels. A food distributor could forecast weekly demand per SKU and per depot from sales history, festival dates and weather, with planners able to override the forecast and see how often their overrides improved on it.

Machine learning solutions vary in what they need, but we generally ask for historical data exports, a few hours a week from a domain expert, and a decision-maker who signs off the success metric.
